Contacting the ward | ||
---|---|---|
01625 661002 or 01625 661091 Family and friends can telephone the ward but limited medical information can be given out without a password being set up. We will ask permission from the patient to give out information as well. Even with a password and permission, some information will not be given out over the phone due to sensitivity and impact on the family. Calls can be taken at any time of the day though due to doctors doing rounds in the morning, late morning/early afternoons are better if family/friends want updates. It is not always possible to speak to a doctor if you ring up but we will do our best to try to arrange this. |

Discharging a patient |
---|
Patients are reviewed every week day by the medical team with therapists (PT, OT, IDT) working alongside if the patient needs their input. An Estimated Discharge Date (EDD) is established from admission and we work towards that with a degree of flexibility. Once a patient is deemed Medically Fit for Discharge (MFFD) and the team is happy with their mobility, home circumstances etc the patient can be then be discharged. Discharges can be any time from 10 a.m. but we will liase with family/carers with estimated times. Where possible we ask family to collect patients from hospital. There is limited transport available which means discharge times can be variable. Some patients may go to the Discharge Lounge depending on their capacity. We would ask that the family or carer provide suitable clothing for the journey home. |
